1. Commitment to Safeguarding

At Little Spoonful, the safety and wellbeing of all participants, especially children and vulnerable adults, is our highest priority. We are dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all yoga and mindfulness sessions.

 

2. Scope of the Policy

This safeguarding policy applies to Lindsey Lang as the sole instructor and safeguarding lead, and governs all Little Spoonful sessions involving children, young people, and adults.

 

3. Safeguarding Principles

  • Child- and Adult-Centred Approach: We always act in the best interests of children and vulnerable adults.

  • Zero Tolerance for Abuse: We do not tolerate any form of harm, neglect, or exploitation.

  • Safe & Trained Practitioner: Lindsey Lang holds relevant qualifications, has completed safeguarding training through Paul Stewart Official Excellence in Safeguarding, and holds an enhanced DBS check.

  • Clear Reporting Procedures: All concerns will be taken seriously and responded to promptly, following UK safeguarding laws and guidance from NSPCC Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU).

4. Safe Recruitment & Training

As the sole practitioner, Lindsey Lang has undergone:

  • Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check

  • Recognised safeguarding training aligned with UK government and NSPCC guidance

  • Regular refresher training to maintain awareness of best practice

 

5. Code of Conduct

Lindsey Lang commits to:

  • Treating all participants with respect and fairness

  • Maintaining professional boundaries at all times

  • Creating a safe, welcoming environment

  • Avoiding any inappropriate physical contact or behaviour

  • Following safeguarding procedures promptly if concerns arise

 

6. Reporting Concerns

If Lindsey Lang or any participant has a safeguarding concern:

  • The concern will be documented and reported immediately to Lindsey Lang as the Designated Safeguarding Lead.

  • Where appropriate, concerns will be escalated to local safeguarding authorities such as Children’s Social Care, the Police, or adult safeguarding services.

  • Lindsey Lang will follow the recommended procedures as outlined by the NSPCC CPSU and Paul Stewart safeguarding guidance.

  • Confidentiality will be maintained except where sharing information is necessary to protect a child or vulnerable adult.

 

7. Confidentiality & Data Protection

All safeguarding concerns and personal data will be handled confidentially in accordance with GDPR. Information will only be shared with relevant professionals where necessary to safeguard the individual.

 

8. Policy Review

This safeguarding policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if changes in legislation, guidance, or company structure occur.

What to Do If You Have a Concern

At Little Spoonful, safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. If you have any concerns about the safety or wellbeing of a child, young person, or vulnerable adult during any of our sessions, please do not hesitate to speak up.
